Un-Silenced began as a mother’s refusal to let the truth be buried.
Un-Silenced is a call for truth, transparency, and reform. It’s a mother’s promise that Bennett’s story will not disappear quietly — and neither will the others like his.
Stories that speak for the children who can’t.

My name is Darian Thomas, and I am the mother of Bennett — a bright, resilient little boy who is autistic, medically complex, and the center of my world.
In August 2025, the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) removed Bennett from my care despite no lawful grounds and against the advice of his medical and therapeutic team. What followed exposed deep cracks in British Columbia’s child-protection system: delayed disclosure, misinformation, and a pattern of decisions made without transparency or clinical understanding.
This blog documents Bennett’s story — out of love and necessity. It is both a public record and a call to action: to demand accountability, to protect other children with complex needs, and to reform a system that too often punishes the families fighting hardest to keep their children safe.
Through letters, evidence, and lived experience, Un-Silenced amplifies the voices of parents and professionals who have been ignored for too long. Together, we can raise awareness, pursue justice, and build a future where children with medical and developmental differences are supported — not separated — from the people who love them most.
Strength, Safety, and Sunshine
Every child deserves safety, dignity, and a life shaped by love — not paperwork.
This is for the ones who have been failed by the system, and for the parents who refuse to stop fighting for their children’s light.
