The fight to bring my son, Bennett, home grows more complex and urgent every day. Today’s calls highlighted severe concerns about his current care and the disturbing, non-transparent way his case is being handled by the Ministry and in the courts.

Urgent Concerns About Bennett’s Well-being

During our last video call, it was heartbreaking to see the distress. For an autistic child, stability and sensory support are non-negotiable necessities. Instead, critical support has been removed:

• Loss of Safe Space: The curtains in his play area and bedroom—his safe, dark space for sensory regulation—were taken down. Bennett was visibly upset and is now forced to hide in a small tent. Denying an autistic child their necessary sensory outlets is not only inappropriate care, it’s a deprivation of his basic human rights.

• Safety Hazards: An ongoing issue with exposed wires in the home was supposedly fixed with nothing more than packing tape. He can pull this off, and he knows they are wires. This highlights a troubling lack of attention to basic physical safety.

Escalating the Legal and Political Fight

We are actively challenging the ministry’s narrative at every level and fighting against attempts to further complicate the situation:

Rebuttal of Lies: I have completed a detailed, 40-page document that systematically disproves every untruthful claim in the ministry’s report to the court using their own records and transcripts. We are urgently working to have this evidence presented to a judge before the December protection hearing.

Breach of Orders: We have evidence that the existing Family Law Act (FLA) order is being breached. My son’s father is receiving 12 hours of access per week—three times my own supervised access—and photographs suggest these visits are not being properly supervised.

Imminent Threat: This situation is compounded by an upcoming court date in October where his father is seeking interim guardianship. Given the prior history of admitted harm and the ongoing breach of court-ordered supervision, this poses a terrifying risk that Bennett could be taken out of the country before the protection matter is resolved.

Pushing for Accountability

I am continuing to push for transparency from officials:

I am meeting with the new Opposition Minister this Friday, bringing advocates from Inclusion BC and FSI to ensure his case is heard at the highest level.

I continue to be in direct talks with the Representative for Children and Youth, who is also actively advocating for Bennett to be returned to my care.

I continue to follow up with the MCFD Complaints Specialist regarding the total lack of communication about Bennett’s health, schooling, and the status of the investigation into his injuries.

This is a clear abuse of power that is harming a vulnerable child. We will not be silenced. Bennett deserves to be safe and protected.
